Course Details

The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance.

The purpose of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is to offer grounding in the core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress either to employment or to further study.

This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration – covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software.

All learners enrolling on the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accountancy receive:

  • Weekly professional tutor support in a welcoming classroom environment
  • 5 x Study text including knowledge checking activities throughout
  • 5 x Revision kits containing a wide range of further assessment preparation tasks
  • Sage One student account to be used in conjunction with the computerised accountancy unit

The AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting can be expected to be completed within 6-12 months. Students must successfully complete four unit assessments and one synoptic assessment to achieve this qualification.

Unit Assessments:

Learners can choose which group of units they would like to study first:

Group 1:

  • Bookkeeping Transactions
  • Bookkeeping Controls

Group 2:

  • Elements of Costing
  • Using Accounting Software*

Delivered two units per term.

*not included in synoptic assessment

Synoptic Assessment:

One end of programme assessment encompassing 3 of 4 previously passed units and additional content from the below unit:

  • Work Effectively in Finance

The synoptic assessment will ask students to apply knowledge and skills gained across the qualification in an integrated way, within a workplace context.

Option 2: Pay a £150 deposit by calling CMS or booking online. The remaining balance can be paid interest free via Direct Debit over 3 months.
