HOW IT WORKS

Apprentices can be aged 16+ and must work 30+ hours a week. They must be employed in a genuine job and have the opportunity in that role to develop substantial new skills. Apprenticeships can take numerous forms, i.e classroom day release or monthly visits to the place of work by a tutor. Either way the Apprentice must be allowed time while being paid to study and develop the substantial new skills to benefit all. Development can happen through work issued by the training provider but also through internal training, coaching, shadowing, mentoring and other activities.

The final decision is always the employers but CMS can also be involved in the final selection process if it is the wish of the employer.

Since the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy in May 2017 more employers are utilising apprenticeships for the upskilling of existing experienced employees in areas such as Management, Accountancy, Human Resources and Business Administration to name a few.
